As one of this organization’s longer-standing people, the Coachee was deeply respected and highly valued for his history and operational experience. However, at this stage in his mature career, he started thinking about the next chapter of his life and recognized that being at the same company for more than 30 years had exposed him to very little external thinking outside of his industry. Motivated by the idea of creating his own path forward, he engaged in a 12-month coaching journey of self-discovery. The engagement involved a number of exercises and resources that prompted him to examine his values, define his passions, explore possibilities, define his new direction, and develop a plan to ensure a smooth transition from corporate life into this new space.
