Vice President, Dosage Design & Development
This Coachee was a highly regarded member of the Dosage Design & Development team. During her nine years with AstraZeneca, she led a department of six top scientists and formed deep and positive relationships. Her direct manager (SVP, Biopharmaceutical Development, R&D), wanted to promote her but felt that her hard-driving personal style caused conflict with other departments, cast a poor light on her real accomplishments, and would alienate the senior executive team. The six-month coaching plan was designed to help her explore ways to better manage conflicting interdepartmental issues and personalities. It also included a number of self-assessment exercises and tools to help her define and manage her personal triggers. Rooted in the belief that her hard-driving style was a hallmark of her success, she eventually dropped her resistance to change and started applying various tools and techniques to manage her personal and workplace frustrations. It was a powerful mindset and behavioral shift that resulted in team stability, more personal satisfaction, and the promised promotion.
Iris helped me do exactly what I needed to do. She convinced me to try things I wouldn’t have done at all but she pushed and encouraged me in the right way. Many projects like this move on and fade away but the work we’ve done together is already having an impact on the organization. How I’ve started to approach things differently will help others on my team and have an impact on the business.” – Donna F., AstraZeneca Vice President, Dosage Design & Development
